Greenfield Golfers Claim Sectional Berth

The Greenfield golf team edged rival Greendale by one stroke to claim the final team sectional berth at the Cudahy Regional at Oakwood Golf Course on Tuesday.

Greenfield finished fourth of eight teams with a 360, and Greendale shot a 361. Franklin won with a 343, followed by Oak Creek’s 345 and Cudahy’s 346.

The top four teams and the top four individuals not on those teams advanced to the sectional.

Junior Chris Henckel led the Hustlin’ Hawks with an 87, which tied him for eighth overall. Another junior, Mike Hensiak, was one stroke behind with an 88. Greenfield also received a 91 from junior Nick Conatty and 94s from seniors Ben Torkilson and Aileen Geis.

Whitnall finished seventh of eight teams, but will have two representatives at the sectional.

Senior Tyler Zientara was seventh overall with an 86 and junior Sam Watson finished 15th with an 89 to claim two of the fourth individual qualifying nods.

The sectional, hosted by Franklin, is also at Oakwood at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 31. The top two teams and the top three individuals not on those teams qualify for the state meet.
