Greenfield High School German Teacher Wins Global Educator Award
The German language teacher and global educator was named as an educator of the year by the Wisconsin DPI, a news release said.

GREENFIELD, WI — A German language teacher and global educator at Greenfield High School was named the Global Educator of the Year for 2021-2022 by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction on Wednesday.
The honor goes to Carley Goodkind, who is receiving recognition for building students' curiosity, understanding and engagement with an interconnected world, a news release from the DPI says. One administrator at Goodkind's school had commendation that noted an exceptional ability to collaborate with leaders — locally and beyond — on instructional design for global learning, DPI said.
“I’m so impressed by Ms. Goodkind’s commitment to student-centered inquiry and how she engages her students to explore local connections to global issues,” said State Superintendent Jill Underly in the news release. “She has modeled lifelong learning and community engagement with her students and colleagues. Her leadership both within her school community and beyond is exemplary and impactful.”

Part of Goodkind's work has been to co-facilitate the Wisconsin Global Scholars Program in Greenfield's school district. Students who participate and meet state criteria can qualify for a pre-college "Certificate of Global Competence" from the DPI, the news release said.
Goodkind was also recognized for professional leadership service to the Wisconsin Standards for World Languages design and implementation, plus for co-facilitating professional learning events for global educators in Wisconsin.
