The story says the committee will now consider a resolution supporting actions that would ban alcohol above 160 proof from being sold in the state at its meeting Oct. 17.
Such a ban would have to come to the state legislature and State Rep. Peggy Krusick, is drafting a bill to do just that. Greenfield does not have the ability to ban high-proof alcohol from the city; the resolution would only show it backs Krusick's bill.

If the resolution is approved by the committee, it would go to the Common Council.
Luanne Wielichowski for such a bill since her son's death. She sent to a number of state and local politicians, including Mayor Michael Neitzke and the city's alderpersons. Alderwoman Linda Lubotsky showed early support for a ban by requesting local liquor stores to voluntarily remove Everclear from its shelves.
