Greenfield Police Chase Down, Arrest Bank Robber
Man hands teller note on Sep. 3 that said, "Give me all your money in your drawer unless you want to dye." Also accused in Milwaukee crime.

GREENFIELD -- A 29-year-old Milwaukee man faces multiple armed robbery charges after Greenfield police arrested him after a foot chase through Greenfield on Sept. 3.
Curtis W. Johnson could face up to 50 years in prison, or up to $100,000 in fines, or both, if he is convicted. He is currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

Greenfield police responded to a report of a bank robbery at the US Bank at the location of 4333 S. 27th Street on Sep. 3.
According to Johnson's criminal complaint, a teller working that day told police that Johnson walked up to his window, held out a piece of paper in both hands with the words “Give me all your money in your drawer unless you want to dye” (the teller remembers that the word “dye” was misspelled).

The teller reportedly began to pull money out of his drawer and the suspect told him to pull it all the way out so he could see what was in the drawer.
The teller could only estimate that he had handed over approximately $1,500 dollars in US currency to Johnson before he left quickly on foot, police said.
Police found Johnson on foot a short time later on the 2600 block of West Bolivar Ave. When police ordered Johnson to stop, he broke into a run, according to the compaint.
Johnson did not stop and continued to run as officers engaged in a foot pursuit. A second officer engaged in the pursuit and headed off Johnson on the 2200 block of West Bolivar, according to the complaint.
Johnson was directed to the ground by officers, handcuffed and searched. Johnson, was found to be in possession of a large plastic bag filled with different items, including what was found to be $4,666.00 in US currency.

Johnson is accused of a second robbery the previous day in Milwaukee at the BMO Harris Bank on 2701 W. National Ave. In that robbery, he walked into the main entrance of the bank toward a teller's window out-of-turn.
The teller reportedly asked Johnson, “Sir, can I help you?” to which the defendant responded, “Yes.” The teller told Johnson, “Please stand in line and we’ll help you when we’re ready.” Johnson reportedly took a few steps back and waited.
When it was Johnson's turn at the windown, police say he handed the teller a hand-written note that stated,
“Give me your 20’s, 100’s, 50’s. I have a gun u don’t want anyone to get hurt.”
Johnson reportely left with between $500-1000 in $20 bills.
