Greenfield Police Chase Stretched Over 2 Counties
A Racine County man was arrested for fleeing an officer after initiating a high-speed chase over two counties, starting in Greenfield.

GREENFIELD, WI — A Racine County man was arrested for fleeing an officer after initiating a high-speed chase over two counties, starting in Greenfield.
On Sunday, June 18 at 2:26 a.m. Greenfield police were on patrol on S. 27th Street when they observed a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier traveling south in the northbound lanes of 27th Street at Layton Avenue.
As police attempted to conduct the traffic stop, the Cavalier, driven by Marcos Adrian Salgado Jr., came to a stop. About 40 seconds later Salgado took off, and began traveling east on W. Layton Avenue, police reported.

According to his criminal complaint, Salgado traveled approximately 40-45 miles per hour as it neared the freeway entrance for I-94. He increased to 90 miles per hour as he fled south on I-94.
Salgado made for an exit when police attempted a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver, however it was unsuccessful. He passed several other vehicles on the freeway as it continued to deviate from its lane at speeds in excess of 75 miles per hour, police reported.

According to his criminal complaint,He continued to flee as it passed I-94 and Oakwood Road, and entered Racine County.
He eventually exited the freeway at Seven Mile Road where police again attempted a PIT maneuver - this time with success. Salgado was taken into custody, officers noting he had an odor of alcohol and poor balance, police reported.
According to his criminal complaint, a search of the vehicle revealed a black case containing two straws, two glass pipes with burn residue and a new and used chore boy. Salgado agreed to perform field sobriety tests and did so poorly, exhibiting multiple clues of impairment and poor balance.
Salgado provided a sample to the preliminary breath test, which registered a 0.187, police reported.
