A Greenfield police officer saved the lives of two men overdosing on opiates after the officer found them unresponsive in a car.

GREENFIELD, WI — A Greenfield police officer saved the lives of two men overdosing on opiates after the officer found them unresponsive in a car.
On Thursday, June 29 just before 1:30 a.m., Greenfield police on patrol came across a vehicle parked in a local apartment complex.
Upon checking into the vehicle, the officer found it was occupied by two men who were unresponsive.

The officer was able to gain entry into the vehicle to assess the men, 22, and 23, and were found to be barely breathing.
The officer quickly called for paramedics and began life-saving measures, inclduing administering Narcan to block the effects of opiates.

After more doses of Narcan were delivered by the officer, Greenfield fire paramedics arrived on scene and took over medical care of the men.
Greenfield police say that if it wasn't for the officer's observations and the ability to administer Narcan, the men may well have died.
Both men were treated at a local hospital while the officer is preparing a case against the individuals for heroin possession.
