Greenfield's George Webb Restaurants Among Those Leaving Chain

Two Greenfield locations will be known as Griddlers Cafe starting Thursday.

Six George Webb Restaurants, including Greenfield's locations at and , will open under the new name Griddlers Cafe on Thursday.

Griddlers Cafe, owned by Don and Robb Hensiak, is a 24-hour restaurant serving breakfast all day, as well as hamburgers, grilled and deli-style sandwiches and soups. The former George Webb franchise owners decided to leave the chain after failing to come to an accord over its franchise agreement with the corporation, according to a news release.

Β "We have different ideas about moving forward," said Don Hensiak, whose family has been with George Webb for more than 50 years, 20 of those years as a franchise owner. "Griddlers Cafe is an idea my brother and I have talked about for a long time and this was the right time to make it happen. It gives us the freedom to be more creative with our menu innovations, make our operations simpler and more responsive and allows us to be more involved in the communities we serve."

The Hensiaks chose the name, Griddlers Cafe, because the griddle is the heart of the restaurants' cook line. Menu innovations at Griddlers Cafe include more lunch offerings with new deli-style sandwiches, hamburgers and double cheeseburgers, as well as homemade soups and a "Firehouse Chili."

Griddlers Cafe will also serve coffee that is ground with its own blend of coffee beans and flavors right on the premises.

"I think you'll find the atmosphere at our restaurants playful and fun," Hensiak said in the news release. "Our uniforms will be flexible and reflect special events that are happening in our community. While our restaurants are independent, we have all the efficiencies of a chain. We want to be responsive and open to suggestions from customers and staff."

Griddlers Cafe retains all of its management and staff, and is expected to add three to four more employees at each of its six locations.

The other four locations areΒ 10706 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis; 2012 W. Layton Ave., Milwaukee; 211 N. Chicago Ave., South Milwaukee; and N88 W16747 Appleton Ave. Menomonee Falls.
