Updated: Valaitis, Brunette Finish 1-2 in Whitnall Board Race

Eileen Valaitis of Hales Corners and Quin Brunette of Greenfield unofficially won by convincing margins to grab the two available seats in Tuesday's election.

Despite being on the ballot for just the first time, Eileen Marie Valaitis rode first-place efforts in two of three municipalities to a win in Tuesday's race.

Valaitis, unofficially tallied 775 votes in Hales Corners, her hometown, and 204 votes in Franklin. Combined with a solid third-place effort in Greenfield (589 votes), her 1,568-vote total edged Greenfield's Quin Brunette's 1,515.

The top two vote-getters earned this year's available seats.

Brunette, who was unsuccessful in his 2011 election bid, was aided by a strong showing in his hometown, where his 758 votes outdistanced Jon D. Jones's 594.

Jones, who finished third with 1,363 votes, lost for the third straight year. Rounding out the field was incumbent Mike Clarizio, who managed 1,232 votes.

According to Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Barbara K. D. Goeckner, the Village of Hales Corners has 31 outstanding absentee ballots, which if postmarked by Tuesday, April 3, and received by 4 p.m. Friday, April 6, will be counted toward the final total.

It is unclear at this time how many outstanding absentee ballots are outstanding in Greenfield and Franklin.
