Heat Advisory and gardening tips

With the ongoing heat advisory stretching into Friday this week, remember to water your outdoor plants early in the morning. For your tomato and pepper plants, water at the base of the plant, avoiding overhead watering to prevent burning or scalding of the leaves in this humid heat. Remember to continue to deadhead any spent flowers from your annuals and perennials, to prolong blooming. Your mature trees would also benefit from a good soaking during this prolonged heatwave. Giving them 2 to 3 inches of water all the way to the outer reach of the branches.  Happy Gardening.
