'I Loved Him But I Think I Wanted Him To Die': Report
Police say a woman was arrested after straddling her boyfriend and stabbing him with a serrated 8-inch kitchen knife.

GREENFIELD, WI — A 22-year-old Milwaukee woman has been accused of stabbing her boyfriend multiple times in his Greenfield apartment, but admitted she didn't know exactly why she did it, police say.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County, Emalee Mane-Herrera and her boyfriend of nearly 3 years just returned from a Las Vegas vacation and were in good spirits. On the afternoon of March 14, they had been sitting in the living room when Mane-Herrera went into the kitchen.
Police reported that Mane-Herrera picked up an 8-inch serrated knife, returned to the living room, straddled her boyfriend on the sofa and said: "I'm sorry." She then plunged the knife into his chest.

According to police, the boyfriend jumped to his feet in surprise and ordered her out of his apartment. Mane-Herrera responded by attacking him with the knife, causing multiple cuts to the back and top of his head, his left ear, and forehead.
Investigators reported that they found Mane-Herrera walking between buildings after the incident. The boyfriend was found a short distance away with blood-soaked clothing and bleeding head wounds. Police also reported the boyfriend had "defensive wounds on his hands" that were likely made as he was fleeing Mane-Herrera.

After police arrested her, she was brought in for questioning, according to police reports. According to police, Mane-Herrera said she and her boyfriend had been in an argument and she had been smoking marijuana - a substance that makes her "feel very paranoid."
According to the complaint, she had not slept in two days and her "mind was going crazy." When police asked why she stabbed her boyfriend, Mane-Herrera told investigators that "I want to change, I really love him," and that "he was not doing anything [to her] but I thought he was trying to kill me. I loved him but I think I wanted him to die."
Mane-Herrera has been charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety and faces up to seven-and-a-half years behind bars if convicted. According to court documents, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Commissioner J.C. Moore ordered Mane-Herrera to be examined by the Forensic Unit. She is currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
