
Alverno College kicked off the 2013 season with a bang, scoring six first-half goals en route to a 7-0 nonconference victanory over crosstown foe Mount Mary University Tuesday evening at Alverno Field.
Andrea Diaz began the offensive onslaught with the first goal in the game's seventh minute off a rebounded shot by Sydney Wisner, and rookie Samantha Devcich followed suit just four minutes later.
Wisner netted her first-career goals five minutes apart in the 12th and 17th minutes, before Hayley Serketich and Elizabeth Terrones capped off the first-half scoring with their first goals in an Alverno uniform.

Wisner was not finished however, as she netted her third goal in the 78th minute as Nava Moniriarani, Alverno's all-time assists leader, tallied her third assist of the game.
Diaz added a pair of assists, while Wisner added one in her successful Alverno debut.

Samantha Robinson and Jenna Reed each recorded a save at goal for the Inferno (1-0), while Ashley Leverenz had 18 for the Blue Angels (0-3).
Tonight's victory was Alverno's fifth straight on opening day and was the program's 15th consecutive over Mount Mary.
Alverno continues a three-game homestand to open the season versus North Central University (Minn.) on Friday at 3 p.m., prior to hosting Robert Morris University-Lake County next Tuesday.
