Inferno Swept In NACC Opener

Alverno College dropped its 2013 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener to host Concordia University Wisconsin, 9-0, this evening at North Shore Country Club.

The Inferno dropped to 0-3 on the season, 0-1 in NACC play, while the league-leading Falcons improved to 3-0 overall and in NACC play.

Concordia Wisconsin won all but one of the matches in straight sets, as the Inferno's Jordanna Farkas battled and took her Falcon opponent to a third and deciding set in the top singles match.

Farkas won the opening set, 6-4, and nearly took the match in the following set, but lost the second, 7-6, after a 7-3 tiebreaker. With the dual already decided, the final set was changed to a 10-point pro set where CUW's Emily McCormick won 10-4 to take the match from the Inferno rookie.

Alverno continues NACC action on Saturday as it hosts both Aurora University and Benedictine University in a pair of duals at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Grant Park in South Milwaukee.
