Man Finds Homeless Couple Living In His House — For 4 Days

A homeowner was out cutting his grass when he noticed one of the home's windows open. He went to investigate, and learned the truth:

GREENFIELD, WI — A Greenfield homeowner got a surprise after he found out that a homeless couple had been living in his house for the past four days without his knowledge, according to police.

Xavier Davis of Milwaukee and Quaneesha Rimmer of Lafayette, Indiana has been charged with criminal trespass and theft, according to court records.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County, a man who owns a residence on the 3100 block of W. Coldspring Rd. in Greenfield was out mowing the grass when he noticed one of the home's windows open.

The man furnishes and maintains the home, however, is not currently living there, according to police accounts.

The criminal complaint stated that the homeowner investigated the situation. He went inside his house and found that the back door was unlocked and that it looked like someone was living there. He looked inside his bedroom and saw that a shotgun and rifle were missing. Nobody was inside the house.

Later in the week, the homeowner called the police again after he saw a suspicious person walking through the yard of the home. Police responded to the area and managed to take Davis and Rimmer into custody, police said.

According to the criminal complaint, police interviewed Davis, who said that he and Rimmer were homeless, had been living in the man's residence for about four days, and moved his guns from a bedroom into the basement because he "wanted to look at them."

Police continued their questioning of Rimmer, who admitted that they took a check from the man's house to see whether they could cash it. They managed to cash a check for $221.50.
