Man Fled Police At 100 MPH, Chased Down in Greenfield

A man was arrested and charged after fleeing police at 100 miles per hour and causing a big accident in Greenfield prior to his arrest.

GREENFIELD, WI — A Milwaukee man was arrested and charged after fleeing police at 100 miles per hour and causing a big accident in Greenfield prior to his arrest.

On July 19, just after 11 p.m. Milwaukee police were in a marked quad car when they saw a 2014 Honda driven by Dalawn Williams, 22, of Milwaukee, heading right for them.

According to the criminal complaint, the Honda made a sudden move, barely missing the squad car before accelerating past them.

Police attempted to stop Williams as he headed into Greenfield, however he ignored officers' attempts to conduct a traffic stop as he entered I-94 heading south.

According to his criminal complaint, Williams exited the freeway at W. College Ave. where he went through a red light at 20th St. before turning north of 27th St. and accelerating to 100 miles per hour.

Greenfield Police set up "stop sticks" to disable the tires on Williams' vehicle at 27th and Layton. Williams then attempted to drive through the intersection at 27th and Layton, striking several other vehicles that were stopped for the red light, police reported.

He came to rest on the northeast corner of the intersection. Williams then took off running, attempting to hide in several bushes near a car dealership. The officer caught up to Williams, only to have Williams take off running again. This time, Williams ran across Layton Ave., where they officer caught up with him and took him into custody , police reported.

The Honda was listed as stolen two days prior on July 17.

Williams has been charged with fleeing and eluding an officer and causing damage to property in addition to two charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.
