Man Leaps Off Hoan Bridge; Survives Fall

The man quickly hopped over the wall and slid off the edge into the water below.

MILWAUKEE -- Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to I-794 northbound on the Hoan Bridge this morning at about 7:30 a.m. A subject was outside his vehicle in the right distress lane.

He initially returned to his car, but before deputies could approach he again left his vehicle and quickly hopped over the wall and slid off the edge into the water below.

Milwaukee police and Coast Guard boats removed the subject from the water. A Milwaukee Fire Department Med Unit met the Coast Guard boat at a boat landing at 7:45 a.m.and transported him to Froedtert Hospital.

The subject was conscious, but did not speak to deputies or medical personnel trying to identify him. Deputies traced the license plate to an address in Milwaukee, where his photo was identified by his sister.
