Man Shot Outside Greenfield Meijer, Woman Arrested: Police

A woman was arrested Wednesday after an argument led to a shooting outside of Greenfield's Meijer store on Layton Avenue, police said.

GREENFIELD, WI β€” A man was shot in the chest Wednesday morning in front of Greenfield's Meijer store and a woman was taken into custody after the incident, according to a news release from Greenfield police.

Several people called 911 to report the shooting at the 5800 West Layton Avenue Meijer location around 10:30 a.m. Police said the shooting happened outside of the store after an argument caused one person to attack another.

As the fight continued, a woman shot one of the men with a handgun, according to Greenfield police. Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment and the woman was arrested, police said. The woman was with one of the men involved in the argument, according to the news release.

Police said the incident was isolated and no threat remains to the public. Authorities also thanked individual witnesses who provided statements and the Meijer store for their cooperation.

Greenfield police asked anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call the department's detective bureau at 414-761-5301.
