Masks Back Up For Discussion In Greenfield School District Monday

GREENFIELD, WI — The Greenfield School District Board of Education will revisit the topic of masks at its meeting Monday. The renewed discussion comes after the Board opted to let its mask mandate expire in July.

Since then, cases of the COVID-19 delta variant have exploded across Wisconsin and the CDC revised guidance to recommend all people in all K-12 schools go back to wearing masks, regardless of vaccination status.

The City of Greenfield Health Department signed onto a letter in August urging local school districts to mandate universal masking in schools. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has recommended the same.

At the meeting Monday a renewed discussion from board members is possible. If desired, a new mask rule may be created. The meeting will take place Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Greenfield High School Performing Arts Center, located at 4800 South 60th Street in Greenfield.

In neighboring Greendale, the Board of Education opted to require masks in all elementary schools, but not middle or high schools.
