The Dan Jansen Family Fest returns to Greenfield Friday. Here's how to spend the long weekend outside.
GREENFIELD, WI — Wisconsin is emerging from its pandemic slumber right into the unofficial start of summer— Memorial Day weekend. Many enjoy the extra day off and hunt for family fun. Others may prioritize taking the time to recognize those that have fallen in the line of duty.
Here's what to do in Greenfield over the long weekend.
The Dan Jansen Family Fest is returning to Konkel Park this year. Although there won't be any carnival rides this time around, music and food will be plenty all weekend. The festival starts at 5 p.m. Friday and will last until 11 p.m. Sunday. The festival is closed on Monday.

Expect to see live music from Rebel Grace Friday, Cherry Pie Saturday and Bella Cain Sunday. Food concessions will include Saz's, Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds, Los Mariachis, Badger Corn and plenty of lemonade.
Each year the Dan Jansen Family Fest donates all of its proceeds to local Greenfield projects. In the past, they have constructed fountains, created new maintenance facilities, and even got a new police K-9 unit, according to the festival website.

There will also be some ceremonies nearby. The City of Greenfield doesn't have its own ceremony scheduled, but West Allis will hold an observance ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday at Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of 70th Street and National Ave.
