Greenfield High School's Nevada Kurtz will represent DYW Milwaukee

High School girls throughout Wisconsin will come together for the Distinguished Young Women (DYW) of Wisconsin State Finals on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 7:00 pm. Participants will contend for cash scholarships and the opportunity to represent Wisconsin as the Distinguished Young Woman of Wisconsin at the National Finals in Mobile, Alabama. The mission of Distinguished Young Women is to positively impact the lives of young women by providing a free, transformative experience that encourages them to reach their full individual potential.

Nevada Kurtz, a Greenfield High School student, will participate in the Class of 2023 Distinguished Young Woman State Finals Program as the Distinguished Young Woman of Milwaukee. She is a junior at Greenfield High School and is the daughter of Michelle and Brian Kurtz.

Kurtzes’ extracurricular activities include participating in dancing, making art, and reading.

Her public service involves assisting dance classes as well as getting the opportunity to assist the “Super Kids” program. She is involved with the German National Honor Society, where she helps run events.

She was drawn to the DYW program because it offered many opportunities.

“Not only would this program help me with life skills such as interviews, but it also helps prepare me for college in the future,” Kurtz said.

Kurtz is thankful to be a part of the DYW program.“Everyone running the program and part of it has been so kind. I can’t wait to experience more things through the program,” Kurtz said.

Kurtz hopes to pursue a dance career, whether it be dancing or choreographing. She is also interested in the psychoanalysis field.

The 2023 Wisconsin State representative and 49 other high school winners will seek the opportunity to acquire some of the $100,000 in cash scholarships and hundreds of thousands of dollars of college-granted scholarships at the National Finals Program.

The 2023 Wisconsin State Finals will take place Saturday, July 30th at 7 pm at the Franklin Saber Center. The program will be awarding more than $10,000 in college scholarships at the state level this year.
