Notice New Street Light Fees With Your Water Bill? Don't Worry
Greenfield residents will not need to pay a new street lighting charge that may have come with the recent Milwaukee Water Works bill.

GREENFIELD, WI — A new initiative by Milwaukee is charging for street lights on Milwaukee Water Works bills, but the fees will not apply to Greenfield residents, according to a news release.
Pamphlets with more details may have been mailed to Greenfield residents with their latest water bill but fees will only be charged to City of Milwaukee residents. The new program will charge Milwaukee residents a small fee alongside their water bill to help fund the maintenance of street lights, the release said.
The new program was passed in March by the Milwaukee Common Council to address budget concerns with the city's 77,000 street lights. The city will now bill residents extra on their quarterly water bills. A typical Milwaukee residence will see an extra $40 in charges per year with the change.
