Omega Restaurant Shut Down Over 26 Health Code Violations: Report
Food contamination, a leaking sewage line, and mold contamination in food storage areas were all cited by health officials.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Health officials in Milwaukee have shut down the Omega Family Restaurant, 3473 S 27th Street over a long list of health code violations.
According to a WISN-TV report, the City of Milwaukee Health Department cited 26 specific violations, including food contamination, a leaking sewage line and mold contamination in food storage areas. The restaurant could open within two weeks if they fix the various violations.

Records indicated that on Jan. 2, inspectors ordered Omega to repair a cooler and to discard its contents after it was found to be kept at above 41 degrees. Records indicated that Omega fixed the violation before a Jan. 17 inspection.
According to city health inspection documents, inspectors found several violations in a Dec. 19, 2018 inspection. All of the violations were fixed before a Jan. 2 inspection. Among the violations were:

- Ready-to-eat cheese was stored underneath raw beef patties. It should have been stored above raw beef.
- A container of mashed potatoes was left sitting out for two hours at the wrong temperature.
- Rice pudding in the dessert cooler was being held at 44 degrees. It should have been held at 41 degrees or colder.
- Watermelon was stored on the floor in the walk-in cooler. It should have been stored six inches above the floor.
- Bowls were being used to scoop food, and beer bottles were being stored in the ice water ice bin.
- A refrigerator was dripping condensation onto food in the cooler.
- The sides of the oven was soiled with grease and food particles.
- A sanitizing sink, and a water line to the ice machine were both leaking.
- Outdoor garbage bins were missing lids, and leaking out onto the concrete.
