Patch Picks: 5 Great Non-profits Making a Difference
Area not-for-profit organizations helping out their communities.

Throughout both Greendale and Greenfield, our communities are positively bolstered by a variety of non-profit organizations. The activities and programs we have grown to love are the direct result of those that volunteer and serve our communities through these organizations.
- Friends of the Greenfield Library: This organization supports and fundraises for the Greenfield Public Library as well as all the additional free programs like the film screening, book discussions, children’s story hours and summer reading. The Friends also are responsible for the grounds keeping surrounding the public library.
- Greendale Historical Society: With the mission of preservation of the history of Greendale as one of the three American Greenbelt communities, the Greendale Historical Society works with the village to ensure that the renovation process of town’s landmarks is accurate. The society also participates in community events by selling historic memorabilia.
- Greendale Lions Club: Founded in 1955, the Greendale Lions Club enhances village life through a variety of programs and donations. Known for their famous contribution of the Village Gazebo, this group also hosts and participates in events like Village Days, the Fourth of July parade and Dickens Day during the holiday season.
- : Through the simple games of t-ball, softball and baseball, the league provides proper guidance and exemplary leadership for all participants. With the mission of developing superior citizens rather than superior athletes, the Greenfield Little League teaches children the value of discipline, teamwork and physical sportsmanship.
- Volunteer Missionary Movement: This international organization hosts its United States’ headquarters in Greendale. Volunteers and missionaries work within Central America and Africa in a variety of capacities based on individual skills. Each mission strives to learn and share faith, life and resources with the communities the VMM reaches.
