Victim Identified In Greenfield Fatal Stabbing: Report

GREENFIELD, WI — Police in Greenfield say they've arrested a person of interest in a stabbing case that left one person dead this week.

Greenfield Police responded to a report of an assault with an edged weapon at just after noon on Aug. 27 near S. 60th Street and W. Armour Ave. Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot, and that the victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the victim later died as a result of the wounds he sustained in the attack.

On Wednesday, authorities identified the deceased as Ben Christianson, 49, of Madison.

Police conducted a search of the area for the suspect, and alerted residents nearby to remain in their homes as the search was conducted. By 4 p.m. Tuesday, police say they took a person into custody.
