According to Reul's criminal complaint, his girlfriend had evicted him from their residence, but he refused to move out - even though he reportedly had a drug problem and no job.

According to his criminal complaint, the girlfriend discovered that a $4,100 check from Powers Jewelery had been cashed into an old shared account. When she researched further, his criminal complaint said that she learned she had been missing a $19,000 wedding ring, $9,500 watch and a $7,000 diamond tennis bracelet.

When she confronted Reul about this, the criminal complaint said he admitted he took her jewelery to support his heroin addition.
