Protecting Plants to prolong the season.

With the roller coaster weather forecast, as seen every year as we transition in fall. The temperatures for overnight in SE Wisconsin are forecasted to be 44 degrees. If you wish to protect your tomato plants, pepper plants, cucumber and eggplant to finish producing and ripening the fruit they already have, I would recommend covering the plants with floating row covers or old sheets for this evening after the sun has set and removing the covers after the sunrise tomorrow morning. I would also recommend bring in your basil plants or protecting them also. These are all heat loving plants and need to be protected when temperatures drop below 50 degrees.
Happy Fall Gardening.
