Public Hearing: Reconstruction of Intersection Near Whitnall Park

MILWAUKEE, WI– The Milwaukee County Parks encourages bicyclists and pedestrians who are users of the Oak Leaf Trail in the Whitnall Park area to attend a public information meeting, Feb. 1, from 5–7 p.m., at Greenfield City Hall, 7325 W. Forest Home Ave.

The meeting, conducted by representatives of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, will have an open- house format focused on the reconstruction of the intersection of Forest Home Avenue and 92nd Street, near the Root River Parkway. Reconstruction is planned to improve safety and to better accommodate pedestrians and

bicyclists. Interested parties may stop in at any time during the meeting to comment on and ask questions about the plan alternatives.

Design plans include traffic signals, a widened median, and a westbound left-turn lane on Forest Home Avenue, to address right-angle crashes and crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists. One plan includes a designated bike lane on Forest Home Avenue; the other does not.

Input at the meeting will be considered in design modifications. Another public meeting will be held later this year to present the preferred alternative.

Construction is anticipated in 2019.
