Rosecrance opens outpatient substance abuse clinic in Hales Corners

Programs help teens and young adults fight addiction and learn recovery skills

Rosecrance is now accepting clients at a new outpatient clinic in Hales Corners, WI. The office, located at 10940 W. Forest Home Ave., offers free drug and alcohol evaluations and intensive outpatient services for adolescents and young adults ranging in age from 13 to 26. The programs are primarily focused on substance abuse issues, but will also address mental health concerns.

According to the National Survey on Drug use and Health, illicit drug use is most prevalent among 18 to 25 year olds. Rosecrance aims to address the growing need for substance use treatment services in this region, particularly given the rise in opiate use among teens and young adults, said Melanie Lindblade, director of outpatient services. Last year, heroin related deaths in Milwaukee County exceeded that of motor vehicle fatalities and homicides (Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office).

Clients will participate in nine hours of group work each week. Topics to be covered include education about addiction, the 12 steps, and recovery and coping skills. Programs for parents and families will also be a strong component of the program. The clinic also offers classes in prevention education to provide youth, parents and professionals with the information they need to address addiction issues at the earliest stages. Two full-time staff members will work with clients Monday through Friday during daytime and evening hours.
