Sister At Our Lady Of The Angels Convent Dies From Coronavirus
Sister Marie June Skender, 83, died Tuesday and three other sisters at Our Lady of the Angels convent have tested positive for coronavirus.
GREENFIELD, WI – A sister from the School Sisters of St. Francis living at Our Lady of the Angels convent in Greenfield has died from complications related to the new coronavirus and four sisters have tested positive, officials confirmed.
Sister Marie June Skender, 83, passed away on Tuesday, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s office. A statement issued by Our Lady of the Angels officials indicated that Sister Marie June had died from complications from coronavirus and was tested post-mortem.
"We pray for the recovery of the affected sisters and the health of all of our residents and staff," administrator Jane Morgan told a Milwaukee television station this week.

Sister Marie June had been living at Our Lady of the Angels since 2016 and had belonged to the School Sisters of St. Francis for 67 years, according to reports.
Sister Marie June was a graduate of Alverno College and served as an elementary school teacher, parish and school musician as well as a pastoral care minister in the diocese of Green Bay and in the archdioceses of Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Milwaukee.

A private funeral has been scheduled for April 16. A memorial Mass will be held in St. Joseph Chapel in Milwaukee for sisters, family members, and friends, of Sister Marie June after the danger of COVID-19 has passed and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee once again permits public celebrations of the Eucharist.
