Snappers Baseball To Train At Spring Mall: Report
Greenfield officials voted to approve a vacant space at the Spring Mall as a winter training site for the Snappers youth baseball org.

GREENFIELD, WI -- An old shopping mall may be getting new life in the form of a baseball training center after Greenfield city officials voted to approve permits and plans for the Snappers Baseball Club during an Aug. 14 Common Council meeting.
According to city officials, the Snappers baseball club, a youth baseball organization that fields several club teams, has been looking for a space to train for over the winter or during bad weather.
The club asked for approval to lease 12,400 square feet of space at Spring Mall for the training facility, that would be open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days a week. Although the space seems like a large amount, staff reported its in fact a small portion of the 26-acre multi-tenant commercial complex.

According to city officials: "Staff has had recent discussions with Brixmor, the property owner, regarding a long-term redevelopment plan for the site. Kroegerβs lease of the former Pick nβ Save space is coming to an end in the very near future. Brixmor has indicated that theyβd like to redevelop the entire site, which will take time and careful long-term planning. At this point, staff does not recommend any site or landscaping improvements due to the new tenancy of Snappers Baseball Club."
According to city officials, a public hearing will be scheduled for Sep. 18.
