Rain and lightning halted the Inferno's home-opening tennis matches, but not before visiting Aurora University defeated Alverno College, 7-0, this morning at Grant Park. The second scheduled dual versus Benedictine University was postponed to a later date yet to be determined.
The visiting Spartans improved to 3-1 both overall and in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, while the Inferno dropped to 0-4, 0-2 NACC.
Aurora led 3-0 after doubles play with an 8-2 victory in the top match, and a pair of 8-3 wins in the second and third.

The Spartans needed just two additional team points to secure the dual win, and came through with four singles victories -- all in straight sets -- before Mother Nature stopped play.
Damanique Drake's number three and Laeren Yates' number four matches were unfinished. Drake lost the opening set 6-3, but was leading the second 3-1, while Yates lost her opening set 7-6 on an 8-6 tiebreaker, and the second set had just begun.
