Suspect in I-43 Shooting Arrested

After a shooting on I-43 shut down the interstate on Friday, authorities have arrested the suspect.

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI - The suspect in Friday’s shooting at 4:50 p.m. on I-43 southbound between Hampton Avenue and Capitol Drive has been apprehended.

MCSO detectives and members of the US Marshal’s Task Force and the ATF Task Force arrested Jonathan D. Perez-Perez, age 24, of Milwaukee, Monday afternoon.

On Friday, at about 4:50 p.m., deputies responded to a call about a shooting on I-43 southbound between Hampton and Capitol Drive. One man was shot and transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to police reports.

The southbound freeway was shut down between Silver Spring and North Avenue for about three and half hours while deputies canvassed the freeway for evidence.

Acting Sheriff Schmidt said, “Our investigators will pursue this subject and ensure that he is held accountable for his reckless behavior that endangered the lives of those on the freeway.”

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jonathan D. Perez-Perez, age 24, of Milwaukee, is asked to call the county communications center at 414-278-4788.
