Two Greenfield School District Administrators Resign

The that has been the Greenfield School District this summer has not been limited to teachers.

On Monday, the district said good-bye to two administrators, but welcomed three more as the final pieces of the district’s staffing puzzle continue to be put into place with the start of the school year rapidly approaching.

The Greenfield School Board unanimously accepted the resignation of District Math Coordinator Sara Summ, who accepted a higher paying position with a state agency, according to board packet information.

Summ’s contract had been renewed in January 2011.

Superintendent Conrad Farner also announced that he had accepted and approved the resignation of Michelle Weisrock on Aug. 9.

Weisrock was hired by the district in March 2011 to be the principal of . After one year in that position, the 2011-12 school year, Weisrock moved to the curriculum coordinator administrative position in June, and was .

According to a memo from Farner to the board, resignations are typically presented to the board for action, unless there is a timing issue involving releasing the individual to enter into a new contract with a new employer, which was the case with Weisrock, who accepted a principal position in another district.

At the same meeting, Farner introduced interim principal Christine Brzycki, who has been in place for about a month after replacing Rebecca Toetz, who was hired at the same time as Weisrock but after the 2011-12 school year.

Brzycki was an assistant principal at Elm Dale last year.

“I’m very excited to be here and I’m glad to continue in the district,” Brzycki said.

Some board members had been throughout the summer but had little to say Monday. Newly reappointed member Rick Moze, however, said the circumstances present an opportunity to revise the district’s , which charges teachers a fee for leaving the district late in the summer.

“Last month, teachers were charged $1,500 for leaving the district,” Moze said. “Here a month later, we have two administrators leaving and they aren’t charged anything. Why is there the double standard? … When I read this, I was appalled.”

The board did approve the hiring of two administrators among 11 new contracts approved. Charity Eich is the district’s new District Literacy Coordinator and Tracy Flater is the assistant principal at Maple Grove.
