Whitnall's Big Weekend Approaching Rapidly
The district will celebrate the opening of its new athletic field on Sept. 7 and have its third annual block party Sept. 8.

The countdown to one of the most anticipated weekends in Whitnall’s recent history is quickly winding down.
On Friday, Sept. 7, the high school opens its with a varsity football game between the Falcons and cross town rival Greenfield Hustlin’ Hawks at 7 p.m. (see more details below).
But the fun doesn’t end with the final fourth quarter whistle.

The next day is the third annual from noon to 7 p.m. between the district’s middle and high schools.
This year’s lineup is chock-full of entertainment and activities thanks to several key sponsors, including the Holz Family Foundation, East-West Connection Martial Arts Studio and Hellas Construction.

“It's been a very successful summer for us as far as the amount of cash sponsorships we have received, as well as partnerships from local businesses and community organizations,” event co-chair Mike Seavert said.
Here is this year’s entertainment/activities lineup:

- 2-3 p.m. - Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? presented by Whitnall Park Rotary Club
- 3-3:45 p.m. - Martial Arts & Yoga Demonstrations by East-West Connection
- 4:30-5:30 p.m. - Red 22 band will perform
- 6-6:30 p.m. - Edgerton Elementary Encore Performance of 4th Grade Spring Concert
- 6:30-7 p.m. - Closing Program & Drawing for prizes

Food vendors include Brian's Treats (hot dogs, brats, ice cream), Freedom Fireworks (burgers, cheese fries, cheese curds), Hales Corners Lions Club (corn roast), Noodles & Company - Hales Corners location, Rocky Rococo pizza, WHS Student Senate (beverage stations...soda/water), WHS Class of 2014 (Walking Tacos) and popcorn, snow cones and cotton candy.
In addition, there will be raffle prizes, a U.S. Army display and face painting, and Falcon Field and the new athletic facilities will be open for viewing.
Stadium opening and tailgate party
As for Falcon Field, festivities Friday kick off with a tailgate party at 4 p.m.
For $10, community members and students can purchase tickets to the game and receive a commemorative t-shirt and food and drinks at the tailgate party.
The front of the t-shirt features a Whitnall Falcon that wraps around to the back of the shirt.
“We’ve never had a t-shirt like this,” WHS principal Jackie Winter said. “I’m kind of excited about it.”
Community members can purchase tickets weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the high school athletic office; students can purchase tickets during lunch Sept. 4-6.
