Whitnall's Youth Theatre to Debut 'The Little Mermaid Jr.' Aug. 1-2

The Whitnall drama department will debut its youth summer theatre program with two performances of Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. Aug. 1-2 in the Whitnall High School auditorium, 5000 S. 116th St., Greenfield, 53228.

Tickets are only $5 for general seating and available at the door prior to either performance. Performance times are 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2.

Nearly three dozen area students, under the artistic direction of Thomas Weissgerber, began rehearsing for the show July 7 and will continue to do so through July 31. Among the cast heading “Under the Sea” are Tess Polacheck as Ariel, McKenna Palus as Ursula, Lee Atadero as Sebastian, Ian Kaupla as Flounder and Harrison Staver as King Triton.

“We have a terrific cast of young stars that the audience will remember for a long time,” said Weissgerber, who recently helped Whitnall High School’s Grease earn 10 Overture Center for the Arts Tommy Awards. “The students are having a lot of fun, and we’re sure their family, friends and community members who come out to see the show will, too.”

Adam Steffan is in charge of direction and musical direction, and Tina Wozniak is handling the choreography.
