Whitnall Middle School student won the grand prize in a fire safety poster contest.

  • Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: LaMonte earned the grand prize in a statewide fire safety poster contest sponsored by the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety.
  • Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: LaMonte's winning poster reads: "Fire Safety - Preparation, Prevention, Practice." The poster was submitted by Middle School teacher Sandy Sramek-Weyker into the annual fire safety poster contest in October. LaMonte's poster was selected based on the following criteria: 50 percent message, 25 percent creativity and 25 percent artistry, and was chosen from more than 700 applicants. For her efforts, LaMonte won a $100 Kohl's gift certificate as well as her framed artwork.
