Letter To The Editor

Dear Editor,

I am writing as a concerned member of our community regarding the presence of sexually explicit books in the children’s section of our public library. While I support freedom of expression and access to literature, I firmly believe there must be clear boundaries when it comes to material accessible to children.

Many parents, including myself, rely on the library as a safe environment where our children can discover age-appropriate stories, learn, and grow. Unfortunately, some of the titles currently available contain graphic sexual themes that are neither suitable nor healthy for developing minds. This is not an issue of censorship, but one of responsibility. Our community expects that children’s spaces-whether in schools, libraries, or community centers- are protected and safeguarded.

I urge our library leadership to re-evaluate its policies on book placement that they be not rooted in left wing ideologies and sexualization but those that represent the community.

Parents deserve transparency and the ability to trust that when their child selects a book from the children’s section, it will reflect age-appropriate values.

Our library should remain a treasured resource for families, and this must first include morality and healthy family values.

Protecting children should always come first.
