19-Year-Old New Richmond Man Dead, 3 Other Teens Injured in Drunk Driving Crash

On Sunday, Jan. 29, police and rescue responded to a one-vehicle crash on 170th Ave. at 112th St. in the Town of Richmond.

ST. CROIX COUNTY, WI — A 19-year-old New Richmond man is dead and three other teens were injured overnight in an apparent drunk driving crash.

On Sunday, Jan. 29, the St. Croix Sheriff's Office responded to a one-vehicle crash on 170th Ave. at 112th St. in the Town of Richmond.

A preliminary Sheriff's investigation determined that a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling east on 170th Ave. wehn the driver failed to make a 90-degree turn on to 112th St., entered a ditch, struck a utility pole and flipped over.

The driver, Dalton R. Mundle, 18, of New Richmond was taken to Westfields Hospital with injuries. It was not known by authorities whether he was wearing a seat belt.

Jordan M. Tulgren, 19, of New Richmond, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner. He was wearing a seat belt.

Two other passengers, Kevante D. Crutchfield, 21, of Idabel, Oklahoma was wearing a seat belt and taken to Westfields Hospital with injuries. Tianna N. McDermott, 18, of Baldwin, was also transported to Westfields Hospital and later transferred to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with injuries. Authorities say McDermott was not wearing a seat belt.

According to sheriff's officials, Mundle was arrested on suspicion of Homicide by Intoxicated use of a Motor Vehicle and is in the St. Croix County Jail pending formal charging.

The crash remains under investigation.
