27 Accidents in 16 Years: Public Safety Along Vine Street to be Discussed before Public Officials
Hudson Common Council members will discuss ongoing safety issues along Vine Street, to make it safer for walkers, bikers, motorists.

HUDSON -- Speeding, pedestrian safety and vehicle crashes are among the concerns a public official is bringing to the Common Council for discussion on Thursday.
According to documents submitted to the Hudson Common Council, there have been 27 traffic accidents along a stretch of Vine Street between Seventh and Ninth Streets in the last 16 years. There was also the tragic loss of Elliot Dawson, who died as a result of a bicycle accident along Vine Street in late April.
First district alderman Randy Morrisette II is asking the committee to look into concerns that his constituents have brought to him regarding safety issues in the area.

In February, public officials had approved a plan to widen Vine Street by five feet from Fourth to Ninth Streets in order to improve public safety along that corridor.
The contract for the Vine Street Improvement Project had been awarded to McCabe Construction in the amount of $2,112,239.75 in May.
