33-Year-Old Motorcycle Driver Dead After Traffic Accident On Highway C

ST. CROIX COUNTY, WI — A 33-year-old man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding lost control after a traffic accident on County Highway C.

On Friday, March 31 at 6:14 p.m., the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office responded to a motorcycle crash on County Highway CC (Wall St.) at County Highway CC in the Town of Star Prairie.

According to Sheriff's officials, their preliminary investigation and witness statements indicated that a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven by Reed C. Shipley, 33, Star Prairie, was heading southbound on County Highway C (Wall St.)

A 2012 Chevrolet Impala driven by Angela Berg, 38, Somerset, was heading eastbound on County Highway C at CC and was stopped at the stop sign.

According to Sheriff's officials, a truck heading southbound on County Highway C ahead of Shipley's motorcycle was going to turn west onto County Highway C at CC.

Authorities say Berg did not see the motorcycle behind the truck and entered the intersection, causing Shipley to brake and lose control of the motorcycle.

Sheriff's officials say Shipley was ejected from the motorcycle at that moment and suffered serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Shipley was transported to Westfields Hospital in New Richmond and later transported to Region Hospital in St. Paul where he died on Sunday, April 2.

Sheriff's officials say that neither Berg nor her three passengers, age 12, 4 and 10, were injured.

The loss of Shipley was St. Croix County's third traffic fatality of 2017.
