📰 News we're reading

1. Hudson landlord's human, drug trafficking charges dismissed; case remains under investigation (hudsonstarobserver.com) — St. Croix County prosecutors have dropped, for now, serious human and drug trafficking charges against an 86-year-old Hudson landlord after the primary witness repeatedly failed to appear in court. The dismissal is without prejudice, meaning the state can refile as investigators continue gathering DNA evidence and other information, while emphasizing the landlord has not been convicted of any crime.

2. Inspired by the Minnesota State Fair, this Hudson gallery makes space for colorful, creative art (cbsnews.com) — A new Cream of the Crop Artists Gallery in downtown Hudson is giving local creators a welcoming place to show and sell their work, from prints to ceramics. Owner-curator Genie Castro and emerging Hudson artists say the space is strengthening connections between makers and the community, with weekend hours and appointments available for visitors.

3. Beaver golfers make top five in season opener (minotdailynews.com) — College golfers from Minot State opened their season this week at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, where the men's team finished seventh and the women's team 11th in the Fall Brawl tournament. Standout performances included junior Max Palmer tying for second overall and freshman Emily Watts debuting with a top-five finish, bringing notable collegiate competition to a familiar local course.

4. America's favorite diner chain is planning a massive comeback after struggling for years (newsbeyonddetroit.net) — Hudson diners recently lost their local Denny's when the franchise operator for five Minnesota-Wisconsin locations abruptly shut down, citing heavy debt, falling revenue and plans for bankruptcy. While employees were left scrambling, Denny's new owners say they're pursuing a nationwide turnaround that could eventually include reopening some shuttered restaurants under different operators, though nothing is guaranteed for Hudson yet.
