Today's riddle: What day of the year is trucker's day? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Request for Proposal (northhudsonwi.gov) — Contractors in the Hudson area have a chance to bid on building two new parking lots for the Village of North Hudson, with full proposal details available online or at Village Hall in Hudson. Sealed bids are due there by 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 9, 2026, and the village reserves the right to reject any or all proposals.
2. Century grad wins in college debut, named NSIC Golfer of the Week (postbulletin.com) — A standout college golf debut just played out at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, where Concordia-St. Paul freshman Brennan Weckwerth shot 1-under to win the CSP Fall Brawl and earn NSIC Golfer of the Week honors. The two-day event at the local course also saw strong finishes from other Minnesota golfers and helped Concordia secure a runner-up team finish.
3. Iconic American diner chain bets on a major revival after difficult years (wheninyourstate.com) — Hudson residents just lost their local Denny's after franchisee M15 Inc. abruptly closed that restaurant and four others, citing heavy debt and an inability to cover payroll and supplies. The shutdown comes as Denny's pursues a nationwide turnaround plan with remodels, new menus, and possible reopenings, leaving open the question of whether the Hudson location might return under new arrangements.
4. 2 former teachers from same elementary school convicted in sex-crime cases (local12.com) — Hudson residents are learning that two former fifth-grade teachers from River Crest Elementary have now been convicted in separate sex-crime cases involving minors. One, Abigail Faust, recently pleaded guilty to child enticement and sexual assault of a child, while her former colleague Madison Bergmann is already serving a prison sentence after an earlier conviction for misconduct with an 11-year-old student.
