A 20-year-old New Richmond woman is charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and hit-and-run resulting in death, after allegedly driving home from Hudson and claiming she thought she hit a deer.
2. At St. Croix County Government Center, the 'Suitcases to Safety' donation drive (hudsonstarobserver.com) — A monthlong "Suitcases to Safety" drive at the St. Croix County Government Center on Carmichael Road in Hudson is collecting essentials for domestic violence survivors through Oct. 30. Residents can drop off clothing, toiletries, baby supplies, suitcases, and more, all benefiting clients of Turningpoint, the local crisis shelter serving St. Croix and Pierce counties.
3. VFW Post 2115 seeks student essays, teacher nominations (hudsonstarobserver.com) — Hudson students have a chance to earn significant VFW scholarships by submitting essays or audio essays on "What a Veteran Taught Me About America" to Post 2115 by Oct. 31. The post, based in Hudson, is also seeking Teacher of the Year nominations and offering school visits to help families and educators participate.
4. Hudson Man Identified in Fatal St. Croix County Crash; Driver Charged (drydenwire.com) — A 67-year-old Hudson man, Brian M. Martell, has been identified as the victim in a fatal early-morning crash on CTH N in Hudson Township. Deputies traced vehicle evidence to New Richmond, where a 20-year-old driver was taken into custody as the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation.
5. La Crosse Summer ID: Player Analysis (prepbaseballreport.com) — A recent La Crosse Summer ID baseball showcase highlighted Hudson shortstop and pitcher Kameron Gruening, class of 2028, as the top overall prospect.
