At Mall of America, 'Clouds' Choir 3,500 Strong Will Sing Zach Sobiech's Song

The rotunda at Mall of America's Nordstrom Court will ring out Thursday with a choir of more than 3,500 singing Clouds by Zach Sobiech, the Stillwater Area High School student from Lakeland who died of cancer last May. 

It's part of the KS95 for Kids Radiothon on Thursday and Friday, an event that raises money for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund and Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. 

"They were hoping to get a thousand people," Clouds producer Andy Demer told KSTP-TV. "They are up to well over 3,500 people that have registered and they have actually had to close registration because of mall capacity,"

Laura Sobiech, Zach's mother, said the choir concert will commemorate the release of the song, which happened at last year's Radiothon. "We were thrilled last year just to have it played on the radio locally," she recalled on KSTP. 

Among the singers will be 100 students from Skyview Middle School in Oakdale. Skyview choir director Melanie Tlusty said it's "a way that they can contribute with their voices, and that's something that is important," according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
