Hudson Neighbors Build Multi-Colored Igloo
A 2,800-pound igloo invades Hudson backyard.
We had a fun winter project, we built an igloo. We were inspired by a story we saw out of Canada where a guy built an igloo using colored ice blocks he made with 1/2 gallon milk cartons. We found wallpaper paste tubs at Axeman in St Paul. One picture is of the tubs with colored water.
We made 6 batches of 63 ice blocks which we then cut in half with the chain saw. Our sons and the neighbor kids did most of the construction using a snow water mix as mortar. Snowkrete.
Overall constuction took over 100 hours and about a month. we figure over 600 blocks used and about 2800 pounds of ice.
