You need to weigh the odds when deciding to buy a foreclosed home!

Searching foreclosed homes is still one of the most common requests I get today! People looking to get that home they want at a discounted price is so appealing. Buyers need to consider the pros and cons of searching these type of properties ahead of time though. Here are some of the things to consider:
Pros- You are getting the property for a lower price than you would if it were a standard sale. You can close a property just as quickly as a regular sale, as opposed to buying a short sale.
Cons- There is no property condition report or history received from previous owner. You accepting the property "AS IS." Problems can arise when a property sits vacant. Most of the properties need at least some work, and some need a lot of work.

The main thing to consider is whether or not the price is worth the potential issues you could have with the property. The most important factor is what you find in the inspection. Make sure to use a quality inspector and look at the overall value.
