UPDATE: Callista Gingrich to Read to Trinity Academy Students on Monday
The Newt Gingrich campaign website says Callista Gingrich will read to students at E.P. Rock on Monday. The Hudson School District says it didn't approve her visit. Now Trinity Academy says it will host the event.
UPDATE 7:38 a.m., March 26, 2012): Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten sent the following statement to Hudson Patch regarding Callista Gingrich's visit:
"Mrs. Callista Gingrich requested to read her book, 'Sweet Land of Liberty,' to children in a few classes at E.P. Rock on Monday, March 26th during her visit to Wisconsin to support her husband's campaign. The Hudson School District must remain non-political and did not accept Mrs. Gingrich's request to read at E.P. Rock due to district practice that does not support political activity during the school day with students. While Mrs. Gingrich's book does not present a specific political view point, she is touring as part of Mr. Gingrich's campaign for President and her itinerary is posted on the campaign's website. The district received multiple requests for access to students during the last Presidential campaign and made it a practice not to allow candidates access to students. Once we allow access to students by one candidate, in all fairness, we are compelled to allow the same access by other candidates. Therefore, the district has chosen to refrain from campaign visits."

UPDATE (8:04 p.m., March 25, 2012): Principal Alison Johnson has contacted Patch to confirm Monday's Callista Gingrich visit
"We're just excited to have an author come talk," Johnson said. "We don't always get those opportunities at a little school. A lot of times we have to pay money to have an author come in. When you have an opportunity like this when someone is willing to come in to read their book and donate to the library, why not?"
