Capitol Review: Voter ID Among Recent Legislation Introduced
Knudson co-authored two recently introduced bills, and Harsdorf issued a response to the governor's "State of the State" address.
- SB9, authored by Harsdorf and other members of the GOP, seeks to extend the use of dairy and livestock farm investment credits until Jan. 1, 2017. The current law allows for a taxpayer to claim income and franchise tax credits for amounts paid for dairy or livestock farm moderanization and expansion, for taxable years beginning after Dec. 31, 2003, and ending on Jan. 1, 2012. The bill was introduced on Jan. 21, and as of Jan. 28, the bill unanimously passed in the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Higher Education, and currently awaits scheduling for the Senate.

- AB4, a bill cosponsored by Knudson, seeks to reduce the minimum limits of coverage required for acceptable proof of financial responsibility for motor vehicles. The bill passed the Assembly on Feb. 2, with 60 ayes and 32 noes. It will need to be approved by the Senate before being sent to the governor's office.
- On Jan. 27, AB7 was introduced to the Assembly, also cosponsored by Knudson. The bill would require voters to present identification before casting their ballot. The bill has been referred to the Committee on Campaign and Election Reform.
- Knudson has no committee meetings scheduled for the week.
