VIDEO: Come on Down! Hudson Woman Wins Car on The Price Is Right
Hudson resident Alexandra Stoehr won a Honda Civic LX playing Lucky Seven on The Price is Right on May 7. The show aired May 25.

visited her sister in Pasadena early last month and came home to Hudson as the winner of a new Honda Civic LX thanks to national TV game show The Price is Right.
After a long day of waiting around, Stoehr's name was called. She put in the winning bid of $1,400 on a smartphone with a 12-month service plan. Then she was off to meet host Drew Carey and play Lucky Seven for the chance to win the car worth $18,938.
For Stoehr, the fun began the night before when she and her two sisters, Dani Breen and Kaelynn Steinlicht, stayed up late to put the finishing touches on their matching shirts. The trio awoke early the next morning, Monday, May 7, to get into line at the TV studio at 6:30 a.m.

"We got in line at 6:30, and we didn't even get into the studio for the taping until about 12:20. It was a lot of waiting in line," Stoehr said.
To win the bid on the smartphone with service plan, Stoehr had a built-in advantage. She has a smarphone and her husband is an IT professional who frequently purchases new phones for co-workers. She said it was easy for her to add up the cost of the phone and the monthly fees.

Stoehr said things were going so fast while onstage with Carey that she can't recall much of what was going through her mind at the time.
"I'm a pretty reseved person, so I actually had to keep reminding myself to act more excited," Stoehr said. "The only people I could see in the audience were my sisters in the front row, so I listened to their numbers."
She also credits the Nintendo Wii play-at-home verson of The Price is Right for helping her practice guessing the prices of cars.
"All the cars are between $16,000 and $18,000, so we had a pretty solid guess on where the numbers might fall," Stoehr said.
The new Civic, currently being built to Stoehr's specifications, will be delivered to a dealership in Eau Claire within the next several weeks, but the Stoehrs probably won't get to enjoy driving around in it. Instead of affixing her Price is Right license plate frame it and showing it off in her Hudson neighborhood, Stoehr said she plans to sell it back to the dealership.
"It's not fun at all. It's super boring, but it's a two-door Civic, and I've got a posse and a dog," Stoehr said.
After keeping the secret for three weeks, the show with Stoehr's big moment aired on May 25. Even her kids didn't know she had won until coming home from school that day and watching a recording of the show.
"It's pretty humbling to see yourself on TV, but the worst part is that we couldn't tell anybody," Stoehr said. "You have to sign a confidentiality agreement. So for three weeks we couldn't tell anyone anything other than to watch the show."
