Hudson Disc Golf Ice Bowl - Food Shelf Fundraiser

Members of the newly formed St. Croix Disc Club are hosting the first annual Hudson Disc (Frisbee) Golf Ice Bowl on Saturday, February 11 at Prospect Park in Hudson. Registration takes place at the park pavilion from 9:00 a.m. and closes at noon. The entry fee is $5, $10, $20 or whatever a person wants to donate as this money and non-perishable food will go directly to the Hudson Food Shelf. The club has set a goal of $500 and 50 pounds of food. Everyone is welcome regardless of age or ability. Everyone will have a chance to win prizes donated by local merchants. The emphasis is on fun and participation; keeping score is optional.

Disc or Frisbee Golf is fun, challenging, good exercise, and inexpensive to play. Frisbee Golf is similar to golf in procedure, pace, and psychology. Instead of clubs and balls, players throw Frisbees or smaller golf discs. Instead of a cup, players "hole out" in a disc golf basket. Frisbee golfers play the disc from where it lies, and count each throw until the disc lands in the basket. Most Frisbee golf baskets are firmly secured in the ground, but because Hudson does not have a course, St. Croix Disc Club members will set up a short nine-hole temporary course using portable baskets.
