Friends of the Hudson Library presents local author Diane Detman, speaking on her book, "Miriam Daughter of Finnish Immigrants."
Dettman, who is a resident of Afton, MN, addresses the challenges Miriam’s family faced as they became part of the American culture of northern Minnesota in the early 1900s.
After hearing Dettman speak, Todd Rengo of Nordic Connections-Finnish Design, Esko, MN wrote, “Approaching 40 years old, I can only imagine the life that Miriam endured. When I see my parents and grand-parents in that light now, I have an understanding of the origins of their humor and work ethic, and appreciate the struggles faced by many at the turn of the century.”
